Welcome to Ireland’s largest dedicated art photography portrait competition and exhibition.
What Are We Looking For?
The emphasis of our competition is on art photography. Rather than technically competent renditions of images of family, friends or pets we are looking for portraits of a high technical standard that are also creative and express an identity.
For example; the portraits that we are looking for should communicate or express a concept. They may be imaginative interpretations of, or re-workings, of traditional norms of portrait photography. They may be images that demonstrate the deconstruction of, or innovative application of, the technical rules of photographic portraiture.
The purpose of the Description of Work section on the entry form is for you to convey the concept of your portrait. We highly recommend you give appropriate time to this section as the judges last year expressed it made a significant impact on their choice of the 50 finalists.

Keep the Entries Coming!
We are loving seeing your entries so far, for the 2017 Exhibition and we can’t wait to see more from you, so we have decided to give away a few free entries. You may get a free entry because it’s a Tuesday or it may be because the sun is shining so keep an eye out, the only requirement is that you have already entered the 2017 Exhibition. The reason for this photographer’s free entry is because she was the first to enter the 2017 Exhibition. Congratulations Laura Hoban.
